Biography:
Viviane "Vivi" Gauthier was a prolific Haitian Folkloric dancer and teacher. She studied formally under African-American dancer Lavinia Williams. She opened the Viviane Gauthier School of Dance in Port-au-Prince in 1950.
Some of the school's alumni include Mikerline Pierre and Jean Appolon.
Interesting facts:
Viviane learned at the age of 30 that she was the grand-daughter of former Haitian president Florvil Hyppolite.
It is also at the age of 30 that she started to dance.
Viviane practiced accounting before committing herself fully to dance.
